Holidays with an included hire car

The vehicle

The hire car included in your holiday arrangements varies according to your destination and the type of holiday. Unless otherwise stated in the relevant holiday price panel, it will be as shown in the table below.

As it is impossible to predict each party’s requirements, we only include one hire car regardless of the size of your party. For additional comfort and luggage space, we highly recommend upgrading the car, or hiring a second vehicle, if there are more than two people in your party – please contact us for prices.

The rental period

Each holiday price panel states how many days’ hire is included in the price.

Rentals are charged per 24-hour period, so if your flight arrangements mean that you have the car for longer than the period included in the normal holiday arrangements, there will be an extra day’s hire to pay. We will state this when we confirm your booking.

If you are adding extra nights to your holiday, we usually (unless stated otherwise) include the cost of an extra day's hire in the extra night price if a hire car is included in the basic price of the holiday. If, however, a hire car is not normally included, it will be necessary to pay an extra day's hire in addition to the extra night price. Please contact us for prices (these vary greatly between destinations, and depend on the size of the car and the length of your stay).

There are certain compulsory charges that we are not able to include in our car hire arrangements and which you should pay for locally when you collect your vehicle. These charges vary from country to country and are specifically described in the Avis Country Information leaflet that we will send you with your Booking Confirmation and Invoice. Please read this document carefully so you are fully aware of these local charges, examples of which include: environmental fee in Iceland (approx. £4 per rental), and various local hire charges in Canada (approx. £2-£3 per day).

‡ please note that these excess charges can be very high. You can pay a top-up charge on collection of your hire car so that no excesses are payable in the event of an accident or theft.

§ an additional driver can be added and paid for when you collect your car. The additional driver charge varies from country to country but tends to be around €8 per day.
 

Rental Conditions

Rental conditions also require that drivers should be aged over 25 and have held a full (non-endorsed for North America) driving licence for at least one year. On collection of the vehicle, you will be asked to provide details of a major credit card as a means of deposit so that extra payments such as fuel and vehicle registration can be billed to you.

Package and Add-On Prices

If you are planning to extend your Inntravel holiday privately, we are able to offer a good-value car-hire package from principal towns and cities in each country. Hire arrangements are for a minimum of three days.

Insurance Cover for Vehicle Damage and Theft Waiver Excess Charges

Insurance against accidental damage and vehicle theft is included in the rental agreement, but excess charges – the amount you are required to pay in the event of accident or theft – can be very high. You can pay a top-up charge on collection of your hire car so that no excesses are payable (prices vary from country to country).

Alternatively, we are able to offer an insurance policy which will reimburse you the amount of the excess paid by you in the event of damage to or theft of the rental vehicle hired by you through Inntravel in any of the European countries featured on our website (not available in the UK, or outside Europe), up to a maximum of £2,000. Cover is subject to certain limited exclusions, and you should pay the first £50 of each claim. Full details will be enclosed with your booking confirmation. Premiums start at £25 per vehicle for up to 10 days, including IPT at 20%, and the insurance can be booked at any time before your departure. This insurance is offered in association with Fogg Travel and is underwritten by Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London.
