
It's another glorious Bank Holiday weekend here in Yorkshire and, hopefully, over the rest of the UK, as well. And there's so much to celebrate, too! We send our best wishes to the happy couple and hope that everyone has a fabulous day. But when the party's over, don't just sit there - grab a map and get out into our beautiful countryside, wherever you live, and go for a walk. Spring is such a wonderful time to enjoy walking in the UK.

It was to be the third time I’d explored Andalucia. I’ve hazy memories of the first in the Alpujarras - a field trip as part of my degree where, I recall, between cervezas and siestas, we occasionally scrutinized the local geology. The second was a far more cultured affair in the Grazalema Sierra, where, after just two weeks with Inntravel, I was delighted to join some of my new colleagues in familiarising ourselves with the walking and cycling holidays we offer in this beautiful region.

The first challenge of my adventure to the magical Bavarian hills was to wake up at quarter to five in the morning in time to meet my cycling buddy, Alison, so that we could get to the airport on time. But I needn’t have worried - everything went smoothly: the plane was on time, we caught our rail connection from Munich to Füssen without problem, and the sun was shining!

It’s St George’s Day on Saturday and what better time to be in England, with forecasts predicting a hotter Easter in most areas of the UK than in the Med. I’ve just come back from a glorious weekend in Ieper (the accepted Belgian spelling of Ypres) - glorious weather, with not a cloud in sight; glorious bowls of delicious mussels and flagons of refreshing Belgian beer; glorious architecture and pretty rolling countryside; and myriad poignant memorials to our glorious dead.
