How our city breaks and French country hotel breaks work

• country hotels offering excellent regional cuisine just across the Channel
• well located city hotels of character
• friendly hoteliers who extend a special welcome to Inntravel guests
• complete freedom to explore as you wish

It’s amazing what little distance you have to cover from the ports before you feel as though you are in the heart of France, and our hand-picked country and city hotels just across the Channel are ideal for a quick getaway. As we have worked with most hotels for many years (Inntravel’s short breaks programme is as old as the company itself, as both were launched in 1984), we enjoy a strong relationship with the hoteliers, who reserve a very warm welcome and particularly attentive service for Inntravel guests.

Escape to the country
Small, family-run hotels are a great French tradition. With so many years’ experience, we know exactly what to look for – lots of character, comfortable bedrooms, an attractive setting with plenty of interest in the local vicinity and, above all, a welcoming atmosphere and excellent cooking. Indeed, the emphasis of our French country-hotel breaks is squarely on good food and relaxation, and a dinner of delicious regional cuisine is included every night unless otherwise stated.

Explore beautiful northern cities
If you prefer a city break, you can head to Lille, Paris or Bruges. Again, we offer intimate, family-run hotels full of character, all centrally located so that you are close to the main sights. As there are so many restaurants to choose from, we include only breakfast in our arrangements. (The exception is on festive breaks, when we include a celebratory meal as stated in the holiday description.)

Detailed documentation
To help you get the most out of your holiday, we provide detailed customer documentation. Along with cultural information and directions to the hotel, it offers suggestions as to what to see and where to explore, from markets to museums and memorials to fallen soldiers, and from producers of local specialities to peaceful formal gardens. Where relevant, we also provide details of our specially devised driving tours taking in various places of interest, as well as restaurant recommendations if your stay is on a bed-and-breakfast basis. To accompany your documentation, we also provide a driving map for self-drive breaks, and a city plan for city breaks.

With every aspect of your holiday covered, we hope that you will enjoy a relaxed and carefree break. Things rarely go wrong, but for peace of mind we provide a 24-hour emergency helpline.

The right break for you
With various considerations to bear in mind when choosing a holiday, we will be happy to offer advice so that you can select the one that is right for you. We can also help you tailor the arrangements for your chosen holiday to suit you. You can choose to take your car across the Channel using P&O, Eurotunnel or Brittany Ferries, vary the length of the holiday (up to a maximum of 4 nights) , and upgrade to a superior room in your hotel where available.
