Extend your stay
If you are flying via Zurich or Geneva, stay three nights in charming
St-Luc
so as to enjoy more majestic mountain scenery - and further superb walking - in the Valais.
Why not take the train?
You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.
You may even break your journey in Paris if you are travelling via the capital. Sit back and enjoy a truly great rail journey! Look for the ‘by rail’ prices in the Prices & Travel section, where you will also find journey details.

The Bernese Oberland is justly famed as the most dramatic region of Switzerland, but the romantic names of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Schilthorn are but part of the story. The Oberland also possesses villages tucked away in the quiet, sheltered valleys, where you will find a special serenity. For walking, few regions are the Oberland's equal.
"Rewarded as we were with near-perfect weather conditions and great visibility, the ascent to the Bunderchrinde Pass was quite simply the best walk of my life – quite an effort, but with the most jaw-dropping views in every direction."
Travel diary by Steve Jack, Marketing Team
Well-waymarked paths offer thrilling views at every turn, with vivid green meadows – carpeted in flowers from mid-June to mid-July – giving way to dramatic, snow-capped peaks. Our walk, from valley to valley through magnificent scenery, is accessible to most, with grade 3 options high into the mountains, and opportunities to shorten ascents with cable cars to make walks of a grade 2 standard.
