In this northern region of the Alps, sparkling rivers cut through the rolling, wooded hills of the Jura, a magical land shared between France and Switzerland. Below are the great lakes of Geneva and Neuchâtel, and the views from the broad ridges of the Jura across to the snow-capped peaks of Mont Blanc, the Eiger and the High Alps are some of the most splendid in Europe. Though this marvellous, very varied, discovery of the Jura begins and ends in Switzerland, most of the route is through France as you walk from above Lake Geneva round to Lake Neuchâtel, following the border on the French side.
The views from the Grand Hotel in Les Rasses make this the perfect place to finish the holiday – the plain stretches for miles, framed by the Mont Blanc massif which glows a wonderful pink under the setting sun.

Offering seven very different days of walking - sometimes through forests and farmland, at other times along broad ridges, below crags and across open meadows - it is a satisfying walk, the many tones of green in the landscape creating a vivid patchwork framed by limestone cliffs and hazy blue mountains. The holiday’s other great features are the genuine hospitality and the excellent regional cooking - delicious cheeses, smoked meats, trout from the streams, and the local aperitif, vin jaune.
