Why not take the train?

You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.

To explore the Bernese Oberland is to discover lush green meadows, dramatic high passes, views framed by famous peaks such as the Eiger and Jungfrau, and glistening lakes. Arguably the most idyllic of these is Oeschinensee, set like a jewel in the spectacular Kander Valley, an amphitheatre of snow-capped mountains whose lower wooded slopes, upper pastures and high, wide ridges provide endless possibilities for walking – a veritable walker’s paradise.

From a panoramic high mountain pass, we enjoyed remarkable views before descending back to the astonishingly beautiful lake of Oeschinensee.

Located in the upper Kander Valley at the foot of the Lötschen and Gemmi Passes, your base is the picture-book village of Kandersteg.
