The Dordogne Valley conjures up images of warmth, of fields of sunflowers beneath dramatic cliffs topped by châteaux, and of a cuisine of goose and duck with the aroma of truffles. Following the oak-lined meanders of this great river by car, on foot, on two wheels or even by canoe, you seemingly make a fresh discovery at every turn.
For me, the real draw of these cottages is the range of things to do locally – you can go walking, and cycling too, if you don’t mind a few hills. Of course, there are so many picturesque villages to visit as well, not least famous Rocamadour, plus the spectacular caves at Padirac.
Emily Bailey, Product Manager for France
Les Maisons du Troubadour, your base for the week, could not be better located. Set in a peaceful hamlet a mere 20-minute walk from famous Rocamadour, an important centre of pilgrimage which clings dramatically to a cliff, they enjoy the best of best worlds.
