Why not take the train?
You can leave London St Pancras or Ebbsfleet in the morning and be at your destination by the evening, making it an excellent (not to mention environmentally friendly) way to reach this holiday. You can relax right from the start of your journey as Eurostar services whisk you through the Channel Tunnel to connect with the world-famous French high-speed TGV trains in either Paris or Lille. We reserve seats for you, there is plenty of luggage space, and refreshments are available on board.
You may even break your journey in Paris if you are travelling via the capital. Sit back and enjoy a truly great rail journey! Look for the ‘by rail’ prices in the Prices & Travel section, where you will also find journey details.

enjoy rich gastronomy
discover the Dordogne’s most famous sights
To the west of the bustling market town of Souillac, the rolling landscape of farmland and woodland has an unspoiled and sleepy charm. Here, families have earned a living from their land and livestock for generations, and continue to supply fresh produce and delicacies such as foie gras, pâté and truffles to the region’s gourmet restaurants (as well as those of the world beyond).
La Villa Romaine occupies an enviable position by the river and boasts touches of luxury, such as an infinity pool by the outside dining terrace, which made me want to stay forever.
Travel diary by Steve Jack, Marketing Team
Discover the beauty of this enchanting French region on our route heading north-west from Souillac along the valley to beautiful La Roque-Gageac and historic Sarlat. Your route takes in riverside roads and outstanding viewpoints, and allows you to explore some picture-book towns and delightfully tranquil villages along the way. The ever-changing scenery is another highlight, as is the sheer variety of accommodation – you stay on an authentic and welcoming working farm, as well as enjoying a couple of nights of luxury by the banks of the Dordogne itself.
