Job description: IT SUPPORT & SOFTWARE DEVELOPER
The IT Support & Software Developer is an experienced, multi-skilled IT practitioner combining a capability in developing web applications (including PHP and JQuery) with knowledge of programming (VB6/.NET) and relational databases. Working in a broad-ranging IT environment alongside the Head of IT and IT Infrastructure Specialist, the role provides user support and helps to deliver a wide variety of IT services to Inntravel’s 60+ staff, consultants and associates. In particular, the role contributes to the ongoing maintenance, development and integration of our many internal web-based applications and systems.

Primary functions and responsibilities
The role will encompass the following primary functions and responsibilities:
1) USER SUPPORT AND INSTALLATIONS
The IT Support & Software Developer provides user support to Inntravel’s office-based staff, homeworkers, overseas consultants and other associates for a wide range of typical issues relating to hardware, software (including Microsoft Office), networks and systems, and in due course enhances specialist knowledge in specific fields to complement the expert support provided by colleagues. The role also has responsibility for new hardware installations and software installations on new equipment.
2) WEB-BASED SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
Inntravel develops in-house many of the systems, reports and applications on which the business relies. Under the direction of the Head of IT, and working in response to specific business needs and ideas, IT Support & Software Developer plays a key role in the ongoing development, maintenance and linkage of Inntravel’s intranet and back office systems with customer-facing applications and microsites.
3) OTHER IT SERVICES
While the role is primarily dedicated to web-based system development and user support, it is expected that the IT Support & Software Developer will learn other aspects of the department’s activities to provide additional back-up support to the company. This should include some knowledge of Inntravel’s network, security and telecommunications systems, and familiarity with relational databases and report writing programmes.

• has a dynamic and logical approach to problem solving under pressure
• experience of Crystal Reports, or a similar report writing application
