Cider in AsturiasDid you see Rick Stein’s new food programme last night on TV? If not, you missed a real treat. He has just begun a journey round Spain seeking out authentic food in out-of-the-way bars and cafés completely off the tourist track – much like our holidays really. He’s travelling in an old VW camper van – but staying in nice hotels along the way. He began last night in Northern Spain – exploring Galicia, Asturias and the Basque Country.

Inntravel charity cycling teamWhat better way to see some of Yorkshire’s most beautiful, and often overlooked, landscapes, than by spending two days cycling 146 miles through the rolling Yorkshire Wolds? That’s what an intrepid team from our office will be doing this coming weekend. And it’s all in a good cause, too, as their efforts will be raising funds for a local charity.

Men on Samos, GreeceYou see them in almost every village square throughout the lands of the Mediterranean – a disparate group of old weather-beaten men seated around a rickety table, stained with the fingerprints of their fathers and grandfathers, playing cards and smoking, sipping on dark foreboding looking drinks in small shot glasses, and arguing vociferously about who knows what and often, who knows why.

WaiterWills and Kate (I mean, ‘the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’) have just come back from Canada, their first royal tour as a married couple. The trip seems to have been quite well received apart from one or two demonstrations by les Québecois, affronted by the Duke’s truly appalling French accent. It’s all well and good learning the words, Your Royal Highness, but one has to know how to deliver them, too.
