Chilled Craobh, Argyll
"Early morning. Just me. Just the way I like it!"
  Ross Becker
Scaring the fish into your net (Burma)
"Inle Lake is a travel delight. Almost all exploring must be by small narrow boats, same as the fishermen use. Lake fishermen scare the fish into their nets by slapping the water, and then drop the nets over the fish."

Exploring Bagan, the slow way by balloon
"Bagan (Burma) has 2000 ancient pagodas. On this visit we decided to see it from above in a slow drifting balloon. The masses of wonderfully ornate ancient pagodas sprinkled around the planes drifted by while we soaked in the grandeur."
  Ross Becker
Riding the elephant (Sri Lanka)
"Our trip in Sri Lanka was so enhanced seeing the way these retired gentle giants were carefully nurtured in their old age at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. They just loved giving us a ride and posing for a photo."

Woodland Path
"As the rickety gate and moss covered stones invited us along a beautiful woodland walk above Grasmere in the Lake Distict, the cares of the world simply drifted away."
  Liz Mitchell
Taking in the View (Mallorca)
"Walking north east of Sóller we stopped for a rest to soak up the view and check the walking notes."

View of the Konigssee (Germany)
"Last holiday as a family before my eldest son went to university. We had been across the Konigssee the day before and on this day looked down at it for ages with my 18 year old excitidedly looking forward to his future."
  Cath Simpson
Winter Walking (Tirol)
"The day before, I skied. All the palaver of equipment, lift queues and speed. The next day I chose the local bus instead and followed a forest road up into high meadows. Silence, scenery, snow, sun – slowly savoured."

"A wonderland of water and natures best gifts"
  Tim Green
Lesley crossing the river (Madagascar)
"The 600km long freshwater Canal is separated from the Indian Ocean by a narrow strip of land. On our way to see the lemurs."

Argentina
"We don't need a fast pace to find a perfect place. Just enjoy the view one step at a time."
  Nigel Turley
Uphill Struggle
"Farming in the Dolomites is often a manual task – getting machinery up the steep slopes can be tricky!"

Does my bum look big in this?
"Two "ladies" at the Fete de la Transhumance. Huge flocks make the journey to the high pastures each summer, taking a break at this traditional fair. Peace descends at lunchtime in the shade for sheep and people alike."
  Tuanne Mac
Meditating in the Mongolian Grasslands
"Exploring the inner Mongolian Grasslands that run as far as the eye can see, we are at piece with the world and nature."

Paws on the beach (England)
"A quiet walk on the beach and a northern sunset. Dogs paddling and playing chase. Then back to a roaring fire and pub meal."
  Christopher Acomb
Dappled shade in Catalonia
"The route from Pals to Begur followed gentle paths through woodland and rolling countryside. Enjoyed the panoramic views from the castle before descending down into town for a tapas lunch of cod balls and calamari served with local artisan beer."

Arctic serenity (Norway
"Beautiful circuit of the Queen's Route took a lot of energy. I needed this rest with the only sounds of bog cotton rustling in the wind and the Arctic ocean waves caressing the coast at the back."
  Paul Nicholson
Late night light.
"At 68N and above the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands offer a unique landscape. Just two weeks or so after the mid-night sun, the late night light at Reine was a very magical experience."

Euphorbia Bourgeana
"Dropping down to the hamlet of El Morito on the "Hermigua Circuit", Euphorbia Bourgeana, native to La Gomera, grows lush and green on the valley floor, towering over our heads."
  Julia Hoskins
Vineyard (La Gomera)
"Surrounded by stepped row upon stepped row of abandoned terraces, a lone inhabitant of Vallehermoso continues the back-breaking work of cultivating vines, a reminder of a former era when subsistence farming formed the mainstay of the island's economy."

"Lady Penelope eat your heart out! Mine for an hour... a 1958 Ford T bird that my daddy cannot take away! Wow!"
  Julia Hoskins
El Sombrero
"Euphorbia, Aloes, Date palms, abandoned terraces, deep valleys, hazy sky over the ocean and the iconic Roque del Sombrero – La Gomera encapsulated."

Magical journey – new friends (Tanzania)
"This was the end of a beautiful relaxed and gentle boat trip – with some of the local boys who were trying to learn English. The light was magic, the ocean and the plop of fish jumping – blissfully slow and calming but a distillation of a beautiful holiday experience."
  Mike Gathercole
Findeln
"Ski down the 'Slow Slope' through the hamlet of Findeln, heading towards the Matterhorn and then ride back up the mountain on a heated chairlift – surprise luxury."

Early morning misty view
"A simply natural photo in the English countryside. Time has stood still in this classic scene – it could be 1854 or 2015. Such a sweet calming start to a day in a rushed, busy world we now live in."
  Mari Ward-Foster
Serenity
"One of the most beautiful hidden gems in Ireland is Mount Errigal, Donegal. I stood in the lake in my wellies for a long time to capture this special reflection."

Spain
"On the first morning of the superb 'Pyrenees to the Sea' walk, we were buzzed and landed on by this Camberwell Beauty butterfly. As I was born near Camberwell, I have always wanted to see one. A wonderful slow moment."
  Joy Preston
Slow fishing
"This is my favourite photo. I took it on the island of Mahe in the Seychelles some years ago and it just about sums up your 'slow moment' for me on a sultry hot afternoon."

Watering hole
"Last week on the Inntravel 'Alicante's Rugged Mountains' walk, we had hardly seen anyone all day but at this lovely little spring some kind soul had left a glass for the use of hot and thirsty travellers."

Nature's Light Show
"Over the Derbyshire uplands I caught these threatening skies over the valley below, casting pools of sunlight over 'lucky' places. I sat for well over an hour watching this ever-changing spectacle play out before me. Nature's light show!"
  John Burdett
Azure blue over linen white
"A world to ourselves, exploring the Hamersley Dunes in the Fitzgerald River National Park, Western Australia. Mare's tail cirrus clouds, low afternoon sun and warm gentle breezes. So stunning, so perfect, so relaxing!"

Seiser Alm Panorama (Italy)
"The morning mist rose gently as we slowly ascended from Kastelruth, drinking in sweet air and majestic views, spurred on by the promise of refreshments at the next refugio. Nothing, however, prepared us for the breathtaking scenery of the plateau."
  Pete Savage
Lazy Terrace!
"My friend's terrace at his home in Châteauvieux, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur! A place where time does not exist, only now!"
